SimpleBits® is a tiny design studio, type foundry, and goods shop created by accidental-entrepreneur and type tinkerer, Dan Cederholm. We’re based in Salem, Massachusetts. We make letters and numbers (and goods with those letters and numbers on them) for people like you. SimpleBits is focused on creating unique-but-familiar display typefaces that’ll help designers make interesting and fun things. Often inspired by vintage lettering and type, our alphabets and goods are genuine and shipped worldwide.
A designer, entrepreneur, and type tinkerer, Dan is founder of SimpleBits and co-founder of Dribbble. He writes books about design and web, records music in his attic, and ocassionally hosts a podcast. His love of type turned into designing display fonts, letterpress printing, and learning new things. He’s a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain and possibly the world’s worst fisherman.
Melissa’s background in retail management and her expertise in pop culture, fashion, and all things Big Cats make her the perfect director of our operations here at STC. She also handles customer service and ships all of your packages to you from our Salem, Mass. headquarters.
Every design studio needs an aging, crabby, salty assistant. We have that and so much more with our pal, Murray. Born in Boston, Murray is surprisingly adept at spacing and kerning.
